Hi all, I'm not an American nor do I have African/American roots, but I do share the same name so I was quite interested in your family history that was written on your site & I think you have done a very good job. I found your history very interesting & well written, I am at the moment tracing my family history as well though I have to try & research family names from England; Ireland; Scottland; Germany; Saxony; Rhommany/Russian States & Arabic/Jew. So as you can no doubt see I have quite a job ahead of me. On the English side, I can track back to the early 1600's as the same with Saxony;Rhommany/Russian back as far as the 1500's but I'm finding difficulty in the German side of the family because of the war (1st &2nd wars) as a lot of records were destroyed and the same for the Arabic/Jew side of the family because a lot of the ancestors migrated into the German & Russian Baltic states of Europe. Your tracing of the family history gives me hope that I may be able to track some of these relitives in Europe. The one thing I am interested in is how & when did in your family history did you gain the Collier surname from my findings the origin of the Collier surname that this name was French. Could it be that at some time in your family history of your distant slavery era, was one of your families enslaved to or intergrated with a French Plantation owner?
